Fitness clothing for autumn: what to look for

Fitness clothing for autumn: comfort, fit and weather protection

If your idea of getting ready for a workout is to pull an old t-shirt from the back of the wardrobe, paired with some shorts that are probably older than Justin Bieber then you could be missing out! The new wave of fitness gear not only looks good and can give you a boost in the confidence stakes but can help your workout too. We look at some of the best technology in fitness gear available right now.

Compression technology

Compression garments can feel supportive, but a comfortable fit is more important than a promise that clothing will remove fat or cellulite. Check sizing, seams and whether the fabric allows the movements you want to do. The original article featured Proskins; its historical marketing claims are not evidence of a guaranteed body-shaping effect.

Temperature regulation

With the temperature taking an autumnal dip, layers can make outdoor training more comfortable. Look for a base layer that suits your skin, a warmer layer when needed and weather protection appropriate to the conditions. The original article used Acai Activewear as an example; compare current garments by fit, care instructions and comfort rather than an old product description.

Dry-fit

Whilst that cotton t-shirt is probably comfy, if you are putting effort into your workout you are going to sweat. Some technical fabrics move moisture away from the skin and dry faster than others. That does not mean sweat marks will never appear. Choose what feels comfortable and change out of wet clothes when appropriate.
