Protein Is Everywhere

Protein is involved in many different functions. Hair and nails contain the protein keratin. Dietary protein provides amino acids used to build and repair tissues, including muscle, and to make enzymes, some hormones and antibodies. Bone contains a protein framework as well as minerals; it should not simply be described as mainly protein. You can obtain protein from beans, lentils, tofu, eggs, fish, meat, dairy products and suitable alternatives. Choose a variety that fits your diet. Protein powders can be convenient, but they are not essential when ordinary food provides enough. Your needs depend on factors including body size, age, activity and health. If you need a personal target, especially with a medical condition or a highly restrictive diet, seek qualified dietary advice rather than copying a bodybuilder’s intake.
